About Dr. Hilsendager

Hello, and thank you for visiting my website. Please allow me to tell you a bit about my experience and practice. I have over 15 years of clinical experience. I specialize in the treatment of perinatal mental health (PMH) concerns. I am trained and certified by Postpartum Support International (PSI). I help parents navigate the myriad challenges that can arise in and around pregnancy, as well as throughout parenthood. As a mother of four children, I know just how humbling parenting can be, and I find great meaning in supporting others through this journey. My practice is primarily focused on women; however, I welcome all parents into my practice who are struggling with perinatal and parenting concerns.

While my primary focus is currently on perinatal mental health and parenting, I also specialize in the treatment of eating disorders and have extensive training and experience working with this population. Additionally, I am skilled in the treatment of children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns.

I have experience working with individuals and families on a continuum of care from outpatient through inpatient hospitalization. Prior to focusing my time and attention on my private practice, I held a faculty position at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and served as a psychologist in the Eating Disorders Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

I interact with clients in a warm, relaxed, and engaging manner. I offer a comforting and supportive environment for clients to explore challenges, work toward desired goals, and grow. It is truly and honor and privilege to do the work I do.
Licensure
I have been a licensed psychologist in Colorado since 2015. My license number is 4293. I am also PSYPACT credentialed, which means I have been approved to practice in states participating in PSYPACT. My Approach
I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs of my clients. Regardless of the issues you or your family members are struggling with, I will help you recognize underlying problems, realize your strengths as an individual and/or family, and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to approach life in a more adaptive and intentional way.
I believe in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I recognize that individuals and families know themselves best and value their input and feedback throughout the therapeutic process. While I tailor my approach to meet the needs of my clients, I'm trained in a variety of evidence-based methods and will employ them in collaboration with my clients.
